LAHORE: The federal government has decided to transfer Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr Usman Anwar and post him as Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director general vice Riffat Raja.

A high placed source confirmed to Dawn that the government has given approval to change the top official. He said that a summary to this effect has been moved to the prime minister for final approval.

The new posting of FIA DG is likely on Tuesday (today).

There are reports that the Punjab government has prepared a panel of three candidates for the appointment of new IGP.

As per reports, Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana, CTD Punjab Additional IG Wasim Sial and Special Branch Additional IG Rao Abdul Kareem are the next aspirants for the post.

There are also reports that KP IG Zulfiqar is also in the race for Punjab IG.
