ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) on Sunday has announced Karachi will host two Grade A+ National Ranking Tournaments this month, marking a significant return of top-tier tennis to the city after a long hiatus.

The first event will be held at the Karachi Club from Feb 8-15 while the other competitions will be staged at the Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana Club from Feb 16-23. The latter event will feature night matches during Ramazan.

PTF president Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi hailed the sche­duling as a major milestone for the sport in Karachi. Separately, PTF also announced that Pakistan’s U-14 tennis team has departed for Phnom Penh to compete in the ITF Asia U-14 Development Championships from Feb 3-13.

The squad comprises Mohammad Ibrahim Hussain Gill, Mohammad Musa, Eesha Rabbi and Khadija Khalil, with Khalid Mehmood Khan as team captain and coach.
