MOHMAND: A woman and her minor daughter were killed when roof of their house collapsed in the Ambar tehsil due to continuous rainfall in parts of the district on Thursday.
Residents said that the roof of the house of Abdullah Khan collapsed in the Had Kor area of Ambar. As a result, Abdullah’s wife and three-year-old daughter Zuhra were buried alive.
In a separate incident, a roof collapsed in the Kaka Kor area of Khewazai tehsil, injuring the wife of Gulzar along with his two-year-old son Musa and three-year-old daughter Adsa.
Rescue sources said that upon receiving information, rescue teams rushed to the sites, retrieved the bodies and the injured from the rubble, and shifted them to the hospital for immediate medical treatment. Meanwhile, the repatriation of Afghan refugees formally began in Ekkaghund tehsil in Lower subdivision of Mohmand district.
Assistant Commissioner Lower Mohmand, Owais Khan, confirmed the development on Thursday and said that a convoy comprising six families was voluntarily departing for Afghanistan. He stated that the district administration was closely supervising all arrangements to ensure the safe and dignified return of the refugees.
According to the assistant commissioner, the repatriation process will be completed in phases with the mutual consultation and consent of local elders and Afghan refugees.
