BAHAWALPUR: Bahawalpur District and Sessions Judge Zubair Shehzad Kiani on Monday handed down death sentence on two counts, along with Rs0.6 million fine, to a man for killing his two minor daughters.

According to the prosecution, the convict, Sarfraz killed his two minor daughters, Tayyaba and Laiba, over a dispute with his wife Asia in 2024 in the limits of Musafirkhana police station.The police registered FIR No 342/24 against him on the complaint of the mother of the deceased girls, arrested Sarfraz and submitted the case challan in the court.

The learned judge announced the guilty verdict against the convict and ordered that the fine amount will be paid to the legal heirs of the deceased girls.

In case of defaulting on the fine amount payment, the convict will have to serve an additional sentence of six months for each murder.

RECOVERED: A resident of Burewala, who was allegedly honey-trapped and kidnapped by Katcha area dacoits was safely recovered near Ghotki.

According to Burewala police, the victim, Abdullah Arain, was allegedly kidnapped through a honey-trap some months ago.

The police said that the dacoits took Abdullah to the Katcha area, and demanded a heavy ransom amount from his family for his release.

The victim’s family approached the anti-honey-trap cell police officials, who forwarded his case to the police concerned, which safely recovered the man near Ghotki, Sindh.

WOMAN TORTURED: A drug addict allegedly tortured his wife, cut herhair and fractured her arm at Chak567/ EB in the Jhal Sial police station limits in Vehari district on Sunday night.

According to police, Allah Rakha, a drug addict, subjected his wife Sona Bbi to brutal torture when she demanded money from him for household expenses.

The suspect allegedly also dragged his wife by her hair and attempted to chop off her nose.

DPO Tasawar Iqbal took notice of the incident and ordered immediate arrest of the suspect after registration of a case.

Accordingly, FIR No 21/26 was registered on the complaint of Sonia’s mother Jannat Bibi, under sections337, 352, 334 and 34 of the PPC. The police were tracking the suspect to arrest him.

The victim alleged that earlier, when she went to Jhal Sial police station, the SHO had refused to register her complaint, after which she protested against the police.
