HYDERABAD: Chief of Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-i-Pakistan (TTAP) and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai has proposed formation of a five-party national government to hold transparent elections within four months.
He was speaking to journalists after meeting Qaumi Awami Tehreek leader Ayaz Latif Palijo at his residence here on Saturday night. TTAP leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Asad Qaiser and others were also present.
He said TTAP believes that the Constitution should be restored in its actual shape and parliamentary supremacy was ensured and nations’ right over their resources should be respected. He said that this formula should be accepted and anyone could become prime minister.
He recalled that he had refused to become part of the PML-N government in 2013 and got Dr Abdul Malik Baloch elected as Balochistan chief minister while his party’s nominee became the governor. He said that he had never been interested in power.
Talking about his cordial relations with former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and President Asif Zardari, he in a lighter vein said he only owes them a cup of tea. “They both can be hosted with tea and biscuits by me,” he said.

He said TTAP had given a strike call for February 8 and if it didn’t make any difference then a phase-wise protest movement would be launched.
He proposed that five major parties should form a national government to hold transparent elections in four months and winning side should be given power.
Mr Achakzai added that all issues affecting the country could only be addressed after addressing grievances of the provinces.
He stated that the judiciary and media had been controlled through 26th and 27th amendments. He said that TTAP was standing with people and farmers of Sindh.
He said that elections in the country were stolen and TTAP was now fighting for the masses. He said TTAP would knock at every door because the entire country was facing price hike, unemployment, poverty and lawlessness.
He said that TTAP leadership exchanged views with Mr Palijo on how to ensure interprovincial harmony and to promote national unity.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leader Asad Qaiser said that judiciary has lost its independence and Pakistan was faced with countless problems.
He said that road infrastructure was in a bad shape in Karachi. He alleged people in Sindh don’t have access to clean drinking water but Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari gave a three-hour-long presentation to portray that everything was fine.
Mr Qaiser also complained that provinces were not getting their due share under the National Finance Commission Award. He said that only justice, law and Constitution could keep the country united. He said the Feb 8 strike would be successful against the stolen mandate.
Allama Raja Nasir Abbas told journalists the present parliament doesn’t represent the true mandate of people. He said that bad governance in the country was the main cause of economic instability.
He said it was discussed in the sitting that issue of provincial autonomy would be raised. He said TTAP leaders want supremacy of Constitution and real democracy.
Mr Palijo welcomed TTAP leaders and said that the Indus river, parliament, Constitution and judiciary connect provinces.
He said that there was a crisis of governance and constitutional supremacy in the country. He added that true federation could resolve the problems and curbs could not address them.
He said that Sindh’s survival was directly linked with the Indus river. He said if the Constitution was harmed then it would be detrimental for people. He alleged Sindh had been handed over to land mafia.
He demanded an end to usurpation of Sindh’s water resources in the name of Green Pakistan initiative. He demanded release of all political prisoners.
