QUETTA, June 11: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), Balochistan, has seized a huge quantity of arms and drugs and destroyed three drug-producing laboratories in the Malgai area of Chagai district, adjacent to the Pak-Afghan border.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday Brigadier Anwarul Haq, provincial director of the ANF, claimed that on a tip-off the ANF staff, supported by two observation aircraft and eight helicopters, launched an operation against the drug traffickers.

He said that while searching the area, the staff recovered 2,137 kg of morphine, 50 kg of chemicals, 32 rockets with 50 secondary fuses, 51 hand grenades, a 75MM gun and 5,300 rounds for Kalashnikov assault rifles.

He said that during the operation, which continued for about seven hours, three major and five small-scale drug laboratories, 25 metric tons of drugs and five pickups were destroyed.

FIVE KILLED: At least five people, believed to be tribal militants, were killed and 11 injured when security forces took action following an attack on a check-post near Dera Bugti on Sunday night, official sources said.

The check-post is located in Sangsila, 11 kms from Dera Bugti.

The forces claimed to have seized a large quantity of arms from the positions of the assailants who fled with the bodies of their comrades.
