KHAIRPUR, June 11: Two sisters were killed after their father rejected a marriage proposal for one of them in Ali Nawaz Hisbani village of the Faiz Ganj taluka on Sunday.

Accused Ghulam Rasool Hisbani, Faiz Mohammad Hisbani, Asif Ali Hisbani and Arshad Ali Hisbani, residents of Dost Mohammad Hisbani village, had been living in the house of their close relative Manzoor Ali Hisbani for three days.

They had proposed to marry his daughter Khair Bano.

When the father refused, they allegedly killed Khair Bano, 27, while she was asleep at about 4am.

After hearing gun shots her married sister Shabana, 32, reached the spot and she was also killed by the armed men.

The assailants escaped. Post-mortem of the two women was conducted in their village.

The accused Ghulam Rasool Hisbani is said to be brother-in-law of the victims.

No case has been registered till the filing of the report.

SUICIDE: A youth committed suicide on Saturday night by hanging himself in Adur Narejo village of the Gambat taluka.

The deceased was identified as Ali Gohar Mangi, 22.

According to reports, Mr Mangi wanted to marry a girl of his choice but the parents of the girl had rejected the proposal.

NAFISA: Former District Nazim Nafisa Shah, PPP (ladies wing) district president Ghazala Siyal, People’s Lawyers Forum president Liaquat Shar have criticised water theft cases against PPP supporters.

Talking to journalists here on Sunday, they said that Kotdiji police had lodged cases against Awam Dost UC nazim Khalid Abbas Jiskani, his father Ghulam Qasim Jiskani, former nazim of UC Naseer Faqir Jalalani, Imtiaz Mallah, and other abadgars.

They said that fake cases had been registered only against PPP supporters.

They said that after irrigation chief engineer Sukkur had taken charge, about 200 farmers had been implicated in false cases in the district in one month.
