SANGHAR, June 9: The Pakistan Muslim League (Functional) won the by-elections for PS-80 Khipro, Sanghar-III, held on Thursday.

According to unofficial results, PML-F candidate Qazi Shamsuddin Rajar got 78,855 votes while his rival Umer Gul Hingorjo of the People’s Party Parliamentarians bagged 4,429. The turnout was about 59 per cent.

The constituency is a stronghold of supporters and followers of Pir Pagara. During the 1970 general elections, Pakistan People’s Party’s slogan of Roti, Kapra aur Makan had demolished the political stalwarts but in the past this seat has always been won by Pir Pagara’s supporters.
