SHIKARPUR, June 9: A complete strike was observed in Chak town against the deteriorating law and order situation in the Chak town and adjoining localities on Friday.

The activists of “Ensure Peace Committee” and other people took out a rally against poor performance of police.

The rally was led by Nazim of Union Council Chak, Abdul Qadir Sethar and Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar, advocate.

The rally started from Octroi Naka No.1 and terminated at Punj Gulee chowk after staging the demonstration. Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Qadir Sethar, Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar, Amar Lal Talreja, Faiz Mohammad Khan Pathan, Ghulam Mustafa Sethar and others expressed their concern over attitude of police towards the citizens and accused the police of encouraging the criminals in Chak area.

The protesters demanded transfer of the Town Police Officer (TPO) of Lakhi and protection of life, honour and property to the citizens. PROTEST: On the call of central leadership, the activists of Jamat-i-Islami, observed a protest day here on Friday evening against the federal budget, demolition of old Sindhi settlements in Karachi and other major cities of the province and the incident of bomb blast at Nishtar Park.

A rally was also taken out from Madressa Furqania which ended at Lakhi Gate town chowk.

Addressing the rally, Maulvi Sadaruddin Mahar, Abdul Fatah Suhandiro, Haji Abdul Qayoom Memon, Syed Mujtaba Shah and others opposed the federal budget and termed it anti-people. They condemned the Nishtar park tragedy and demolition of Sindhi villages and colonies.

The JI leaders demanded arrest of real culprits involved in Nishtar Park incident, withdrawal of budget and stop demolition of Sindhi villages in Karachi, Hyderabad and other big cities in the larger interests of the people of the province.
