KARACHI: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) on Monday reiterated its demand for an end to arbitrary detentions and ‘enforced disappearances’ without any delay.

In a statement, it said rule of law must be upheld in all circumstances across the country.

No individual should be deprived of liberty without due process, nor should one be held incommunicado or beyond the protection of courts, it stressed.

The HRCP expressed its deep concern over the recent case of Shahnawaz Khoso, a medical student at the Indus Medical College, Tando Mohammad Khan, who was reportedly offloaded from a bus near Dadu by unknown persons over a week ago and whose whereabouts still remain unknown.

As with all other such cases, Shahnawaz Khoso must be produced in a court immediately, it said.
