KARACHI, June 9: The door-to-door garbage lifting has been introduced in Baldia town as sanitation of UC-5 Saeedabad has been handed to private sector.

Town nazim Kamran Akhtar said improving the town's sanitary condition was among his top priorities and garbage lifting and disposal system had been privatised for the purpose.

He said Rs30 per house was being received to lift trash door-to-door and carry out sanitation work which would provide healthy environment to residents as well as add beauty to the town.

The town nazim will formally inaugurate door-to-door garbage lifting work at Al-Bairuni Ground in Sector 3-C of UC-5 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, work on laying of 900-feet-long 15-inch diameter sewerage line in Shah Faisal town has begun to contain 30-year-old sewerage related problems of residents of main Bazaar of Drigh Road, Rehmanabad and Al-Haider Society. Town nazim Mohammad Imran laid the foundation stone of the project.

In Site town, as many as 146 stray dogs have been eliminated during the ongoing drive that will continue for one week.—PPI
