PESHAWAR: On the special instructions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, Peshawar division commissioner Riaz Khan Mehsud paid a detailed visit to Regi Model Town (RMT) to find a sustainable solution to the 35-year-old pending land dispute.
Peshawar deputy commissioner Captain retired Sanaullah, Khyber deputy commissioner Bilal Shahid Rao, Director General Peshawar Development Authority Shah Fahad, representatives of the Kukikhel tribes, and revenue officers from Peshawar and Khyber also accompanied the commissioner.
The commissioner carried out a detailed review of the Maffey Griffith Line, drawn during the British era, which defines the boundary between Khyber tribal district and the Peshawar district, and is the main cause of the dispute. He also obtained relevant information from the revenue staff.
The commissioner directed a team comprising revenue staff from Peshawar and Khyber districts, along with engineers from the Peshawar Development Authority to prepare a detailed report on their respective demarcations related to the Maffey Griffith Line and submit it within 72 hours.
