GILGIT, June 8: The Grand Peace Jirga, headed by Northern Areas Legislative Council Speaker Malik Mohammad Miskeen, will set up a women’s wing to accelerate efforts to maintain sectarian peace in the area.

The decision was taken by the NALC speaker during a meeting with a women’s delegation, led by the Pakistan Muslim League’s local leader Dilshad Bano.

Mr Miskeen told the delegation that maximum participation of womenfolk in maintaining peace in the Northern Areas would be ensured.

DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS: The Northern Areas Public Works Department has utilized Rs258 million to complete the ongoing development projects in Gilgit district.

This was said by the executive engineer, bridges and roads division, NAPWD, while talking to APP here on Thursday.

The department had awarded 137 contracts of different development projects, he said and expressed the hope that the projects would be completed within the stipulated period.
