MIRAMSHAH: Terrorists blew up another government primary school in the Mirali tehsil of North Waziristan district on Sunday night, spreading fear and anxiety among students.

According to police, the incident occurred in Eppi village, where unknown assailants planted explosive material inside the building of government girls primary school during the night, triggering a powerful blast that destroyed the structure.

Police officials said the school was closed at the time of the explosion, therefore no loss of life was reported.

According to government officials, around 250 girls are enrolled at the school. It was the only educational institution for girls in the area.

Only three days earlier, another government primary school in Mirali was destroyed using explosives, placing the educational future of more than 600 students at risk. The targeting of two educational institutions within a short span has raised grave concerns among students and parents in the area.

Reacting to the incident, a tribal elder said that targeting educational institutions was an attack on the future of the entire nation. “Tribal people will not tolerate such elements under any circumstances, and the government must immediately expose and bring the culprits to justice.”

Meanwhile, the district administration stated that security at schools was being further strengthened.

Parents and members of civil society have also urged the authorities to ensure continuity of education by swiftly reconstructing the damaged school buildings and establishing lasting peace in the area.
