LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), June 7: The Fata health directorate has installed new equipment at the Agency Headquarters Hospital here to provide better health facilities to people of tribal areas.

Medical Superintendent Dr Zar Alam said an echocardiography and additional X-ray machines had been installed at the ICU-CCU unit and a blood bank had also been established in the hospital. He said ECG and X-ray machines had been made operative at the emergency ward.

He said that since he had taken over the charge of the hospital, he had been monitoring performance of the hospital laboratory and added that during the last month and a half, the laboratory income had increased three folds. “We are now receiving around Rs40,000 a month from the laboratory,” he said.

He said that he had directed nurses against accepting gratification from patients’ attendants at the labour room and had taken steps to ensure nobody was overcharged at the operation theatre.
