PESHAWAR, June 7: Employees of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) will be paid an amount of Rs20 million in outstanding TA/DA and off-day wages, said a handout.
Chief Executive Pesco Brig Sakhi Marjan said: “Pesco workers worked hard to reduce line losses, increase recovery and adopt precautionary measures to ensure safety of people.”
He said this while chairing a Joint Works Council meeting held at the Wapda House, Peshawar, on Wednesday.
He said that Pesco was striving hard to facilitate its employees and a number of steps had already been taken to provide basic facilities to all of its employees.
He said that the problems of Pesco employees were being addressed on a priority basis.
Mr Marjan stressed to work for improvement of the company by reducing its line losses and improving its recovery and solving consumers’ complaints, which will result in the financial recovery of Pesco and in the improvement of employees’ lives.
He stressed the need to curb the electricity misuse, and asked the workers to use safety equipment while working on lines to ensure safety.
He assured that one son of each dead Pesco employee is recruited to facilitate the bereaved family.
He said that recruitment under employees’ sons’ quota of 20 per cent would be followed according to the rules.
Mr Marjan said that in order to further improve the billing system, level-1 has been started in two divisions of Pesco on an experimental basis and would be extended to other divisions after its success.
He assured that all cases of off-day wages and TA/DA bills pending during the current financial year would be paid according to the rules.
He approved Rs20 million for the purpose and directed the officials concerned to ensure all payments by June 30.
Director human resources and director legal informed that Pesco had paid Rs2.1 million to 140 employees for their daughters’ marriages. Scholarships had also been awarded to 200 sons of employees who had shown the best results in their examinations. Besides, 50 widows of Pesco employees were also given special allowance for their daily requirements.—Correspondent
