GUJRANWALA, June 6: Unidentified people attacked a Lahore High Court bailiff and again detained 10 workers who were recovered from a brick kiln in Kamoki on Tuesday. The court appointed a bailiff to recover Bushra Bibi, Aslam, Faiz, Nasira Bibi, Sajjad, Ijaz, Ghulam Husain, Suleman, Rehan and Ghulam Nabi on a writ petition filed by Muhammad Aslam. The bailiff raided the kiln and recovered them. They were being escorted to Lahore for producing them before the court by a wagon. When they reached near GT Road, the unidentified people intercepted them. They beat the bailiff and kidnapped the workers.

Police have registered a case.

Robbery: Three dacoits took away gold and cash in Rs2 million from a jeweller’s shop in Baghbanpura here on Tuesday.

Baghbanpura police said Sohail Ahmad was sitting at his shop in Gala Abdul Aziz Wala when the outlaws came there as customers. They took out pistols and collected 100 tolas of gold and Rs450,000 in cash and escaped.

Later, the jewellers of the market protested against the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the robbers.

CRIME RATE: The crime graph during May remained high like first four months of the year despite police claim of arresting a large number of robbers.

It is learnt that 213 incidents of crime, including dacoities and robberies, were reported during the month. The biggest robbery was occurred in the house of a trader of medicines on the College Road from where three outlaws took way cash, gold jewellery and foreign currency worth Rs15 million.

Overall, robbers took away 724 tolas of gold ornaments, 157 mobile phones, 56 motorcycles, 24 cars and other vehicles while two people were killed during robberies on resisting.

In other crimes, 29 people were murdered over old enmity while as 15, including women, committed suicides during the month.

According to a report, about 12 women were kidnapped, while five of them were raped. Maximum 30 incidents of robberies and other heinous crime were committed in Satellite Town, 21 each in People’s Colony and Saddar, and 16 in Model Town from where six cars, four motorcycles and 35 mobile phones were snatched.
