RAWALPINDI: The district administration and District Health Authority on Monday launched a 12-day-long campaign to vaccinate children against measles and rubella with the target to reach 822,766 children.

The official inauguration of the campaign was held at the deputy commissioner office. MNA Tahira Aurangzeb and Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema launched the drive. District Health Authority chief Dr Ehsan Ghani and other senior officials were present.

Speaking on the occasion, the MNA said health and safe future of children was the top priority of the government and the campaign was part of this national responsibility. She added that the cooperation of parents was a key to the success of the campaign. She appealed to parents to vaccinate their children up to the age of five against measles and rubella. Ms Aurangzeb said the district administration and the health department will work together to ensure every child is vaccinated.

The deputy commissioner said monitoring of teams had been strengthened across the district so that no child is left out. He appreciated all the departments and partners for their coordination.
