GUJRAT: Veteran parliamentarian Nawabzada Mazhar Ali Khan passed away after a prolonged illness in Lahore on Sunday night.

He was 92 years of age.

The deceased had served as member of National Assembly thrice and also elected as member of Punjab Assembly twice in his long political career spanning for at least seven decades as last time he was elected an MNA in 2013 general election on the ticket of PML-N.

However, he announced retirement from the electoral politics in 2018 and also handed over family’s political reigns to his brother ex-MNA Ghazanfar Gul who contested the last two general elections as a PML-N nominee.

The funeral prayers are scheduled to be held on Monday (today) at 3pm in native village Ajnala of Gujrat.
