ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Federal Education has abolished 310 non-teaching positions in Islamabad schools and colleges.
According to a notification issued by ministry of education, out of 493 vacant positions, 310 have been abolished. The notification said that these seats were abolished in pursuant of federal cabinet decision made last year.
The posts which are abolished include guards, maids, steno-typists, dispenser, store keeper, plumber, mechanics, water-men, sweepers and gardeners, etc.
Theses posts have been lying vacant for long as Federal Directorate of Education, which runs the Islamabad schools and colleges, made no effort to fill them, resultantly the federal government decided to abolish them.
The number of schools and colleges saw gradual growth in Islamabad, but the posts, instead of being increased, saw a cut. “Education ministry and FDE are responsible for abolition of these posts,” said an official of the FDE. He said that creation of new posts from federal government always remain a big task for any organisation, but here in Islamabad, non-teaching posts are being abolished as no recruitments had been made against these posts.
