ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Irfan Siddiqui laid to rest on Tuesday.

The burial took place at H-11 graveyard, which was attended by a large number of people including literary figure, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Minister Planning Ahsan Iqbal and Amir Muqam.

Mr Siddiqui passed away on Monday after a brief illness. In a statement, the senator’s family said that Mr Siddiqui had been receiving treatment at a local hospital in Islamabad for the past few days due to respiratory distress.

Meanwhile, National Assembly offered Fateha for the deceased. At the request of the chair, Syed Imran Ahmad Shah led the Fateha for the departed soul.

Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi also expressed grief over the death of Senator Siddiqui.

“Irfan Siddiqui was a beacon of knowledge and literature,” the minister said. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif later in the evening visited the residence of Irfan Siddiqui and condoled his death with the family members
