KARACHI, June 3: The administration of Karachi Race Club (KRC) has issued strict warning to owners, trainers and riders aimed at holding fair races which would come into effect at the Karachi Racecourse Sunday.

It says “all owners/trainers are advised to declare three riders in a race according to the riders list. Trainers shall be fined if any wrong declarations are made.”

The KRC has also warned all riders not to go into the betting ring during race and restrict their movement to riders stand. Their license would be cancelled if they will not follow the instructions.

Five-year-old bay mare, Smiling Face, from the stables of Haji Khuda Bux Rajar who failed to finish on the board in the last meeting on May 28, is fancied to make amends by winning on Sunday.

Drawn in the shortest field of seven runners in the five furlongs last race, she starts as our days best. She should be followed by Jadugar and Arab Hi Arab for the places.

A card of seven races, all going over five furlongs, has been chalked out for the day. The first race begins at 2.30pm.

Dr. Abdul Karim’s six-year-old dark bay, King Of The Field, who has been off colour in the last successive meetings, is tipped to land the opener.

Jan-e-Mun, should sprint to victory in the next race.

The third race should see bay filly, Annaba, making amends of the previous loss by galloping to victory. She should be chased by Daruwala and My Boy. Silver City and Deniro who are also drawn in the same race have come down in handicap and should be watched.

M. R. Hussain’s Mera Jugnoo who settled for second on May 21, look certain to pick up spoils in the fourth race finishing ahead of Sparkling Lady and New Ferrari. However, Canon Ball can pull off a surprise.

Fillies, Black Girl and Voo Doo Doll drawn in a pack of 11 contestants in the fifth race have equal chance of winning.

Bay colt, Baba Jani, is tipped to make it two in a row by grabbing the sixth race.

Following is the field and our selection.
