TAXILA: Attock police on Saturday foiled two bids to smuggle narcotics from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab and arrested two women besides recovering 2.8kg of ice (methamphetamine) from their possession, officials said on Saturday.

Police said during checking of Rawalpindi-bound passenger vehicles at Attock Khurd check post on G.T. Road, police recovered the drugs.

Separate cases have been registered against the women under section 9-C of control of drugs substance and launched further investigation to trace the source and network involved. Officials said the arrests form part of the ongoing crackdown on inter-provincial narcotics trafficking and supply chains operating along major corridors, including G.T. Road and M-1.

Moreover, a special court for the Control of Narcotic Substances (CNS) in Taxila on Saturday sentenced a drug paddler to nine-year imprisonment.

The accused Fazal Rabbi was arrested by Taxila police on January 2 in the case registered under section 9-C of control of narcotics substance act 1997 after recovery of 1.54kg hashish from his custody.
