Protest against water shortage

NAWABSHAH, June 3: Farmers of Rahib Shah minor, Choti Rein and Sakrand distributary took out a procession on Saturday in protest against water shortage.

Jeay Sindh Mahaz chairman Syed Zain Shah, Sakrand Taluka Naib Nazim Ghulam Mustafa Jalalani and Pir Zakri UC Nazim Syed Munir Shah led the protesters.

The procession started from Majeed Keerio village and after passing through different villages culminated on the Sakrand bypass road.

The protesters, who were in tractor-trolleys, cars and motor cycles, burnt tyres and blocked the National Highway.

As a result, Punjab-bound traffic remained suspended for about one hour. The protesters carried placards and banners.

They raised slogans against the Sindh irrigation department.
