Water tanker runs over, kills motorcyclist

KARACHI: A fast-moving water tanker ran over and killed a motorcyclist on main Hub River Road on Friday evening, police said.

South DIG Syed Asad Raza said that the water tanker hit the bike-rider near Jamia Farooqia within the remit of the Moachko police station.

The victim sustained critical injuries and was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The deceased’s identity could not be ascertained till late in the night.

The driver responsible for the fatal accident managed to escape from the scene, leaving behind the heavy vehicle that was impounded by the police.

Human skeleton found

A human skeleton was found in the Safoora Goth area on Friday evening.

The Malir Cantonment police said that the skeleton was recovered during excavation work being carried out for the Bus Rapid Transit Red Line near Check Post-6.

The skeleton appeared to be around 14 or 16 months old, the officials shared and said that it was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
