KARACHI, June 3: The administrative judge of anti-terrorism courts in Karachi on Saturday remanding back a case of two men, arrested under extortion charges, directed the investigation officer to produce them before concerned judicial magistrate for obtaining their remand.

Mohammad Jehangir and Sheran Ali were produced before AJ Justice Khliji Arif Hussain of Sindh High Court.

According to Ferozabad police, accused was issuing threats to poultry farm dealer Shahid Nazir since May 25, and demanding Rs30,000. The accused were arrested red-handed by the police as they reached the house of the complainant to receive money.

Police also recovered dummy foreign currency from their possession, which was given to them by the complainant. The accused were earlier produced before judicial magistrate who referred the case to ATC as the case falls into ATA jurisdiction.

Refusing police plea for remand under ATA, the AJ observed that the case not was registered against the accused under ATA, therefore the accused be produced before concerned judicial magistrate for obtaining remand in accordance with law.—PPI
