KARACHI, June 2: The movement of Faisal Malik, father-in-law of Altaf Hussain, and his family members was restricted to their residence in Defence on Friday.

Talking to Dawn from his residence, Faisal Malik said that the SHO of Gizri Police Station, Irfan Ahmed, came to his house around 3pm informing him that his movement had been restricted.

“When I asked for detention orders, he said that it has been done on the verbal orders of SSP Security Amin Yousafzai,” Mr Malik said. “Since then, three police mobiles and 15 to 20 policemen have been deployed at my house,” he said.

He said that he had been trying to contact the home minister and the governor, but he was told that they were busy in meeting.

“My guests who had come to my house were not allowed to enter by the policemen deployed at my house,” he complained.

Faisal Malick remained tight-lipped about the reason for his detention.

Clifton TPO Imran Minhas denied such restriction saying that he (Fasial Malik) has been ‘security cautioned’ and advised to inform police while moving out of the house and take police guards along. “He is, otherwise, free to travel,” the TPO said.

It may be recalled that Faisal Malik was offloaded from a London-bound flight (PK 787) on May 28. However, it is yet to be ascertained whether his name is included in the Exit Control List.
