KARACHI, June 1: Four ships carrying containers, sugar and yellow peas arrived at the outer anchorage during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Thursday.

Meanwhile, berthing activity was normal as three ships to load and offload containers, furnace oil and iron were berthed. Berth occupancy rose to 89 per cent as eight ships were occupying berths to load and offload containers, rice and sugar, edible oil, furnace oil and iron ore.

Cargo handling activity was brisk at the wharves where a total tonnage of 82,333 tons comprising 67,009 tons of import and 15,234 tons of export cargo was handled.

Sailings were active as Nedlloyd Muscat, Asian Gyro and Opal left the port while Tai Pan was due to depart.

Four ships, Keefan, Ocean Harmony, London Senator and China Star, were awaiting their berthing turn at the outer anchorage.
