FAISALABAD, May 30: A dacoit was killed while one police constable sustained injuries in a crossfire on Tuesday near General Bus Stand. Reports said three masked dacoits tried to snatch valuables from police constable Muhammad Waseem but he put up resistance and snatched the gun from one of the dacoits.

On fearing of their arrest, dacoits opened fire which was retaliated by the constable as a result one of the dacoits was killed while the constable was injured. monitoring: District Coordination Officer Azam Suleman Khan has said a committee has been constituted under direct supervision of the Punjab housing secretary to check quality of water supply pipelines being laid by the Water and Sanitation Agency.

He said at a news conference industrial units operating in congested areas of the city would be shifted within next couple of years to the Industrial Estate being constructed near Khurrianwala.

He said six contractors had qualified for laying the new pipelines in Ghulam Muhammadabad and suburban localities, who have so far replaced 4,000 feet water pipelines.
