2 bootleggers arrested

VEHARI, May 29: Local police on Monday claimed to have arrested two bootleggers and recovered a sizable quantity of imported and locally-made liquor from a house at Chak 9-11-WB.

Talking to journalists here, Sadar SDPO Sardar Zafar Dogar said the police got a tip-off that a gang of bootleggers, who had stored liquor in a house, was trying to supply it in Vehari.

He said a police party, headed by SHO Humayun Iftikhar, raided the house of accused Faisal Masih and recovered 67 bottles of imported and 400 bottles of locally-made liquor. Police also arrested Faisal and George Masih while their accomplice Pervez Masih managed to escape from the scene.

The SDPO said that accused Faisal Masih was an employee of the Social Welfare Office, Vehari.

He said the arrested accused had brought the liquor from Lahore and Multan.
