MIRPURKHAS, May 27: District Nazim Dr Sughra Junejo has said that police should concentrate on maintenance of law and order, elimination of narcotic dens and anti-social elements.

Speaking at a meeting held here on Friday, she said that the administration was primarily responsible for maintenance of law and order and protection of lives and properties of people.

DCO Mumtaz Shah, DPO Abdul Hadi Billo and TPOs were present on the occasion.

She called for action against sale of gutka and mainpuri particularly in educational institutions.

She directed the DPO to provide police help to taluka nazims for removing encroachments.

She asked to ensure security arrangements in the civil hospital for protection of doctors and take effective measures for curbing incidents of motorcycle snatching and theft.

She said that traffic system should be improved in collaboration with the taluka municipal administrations. She directed police to take action against those who were responsible for aerial firing in a marriage ceremony.

She said that she had received complaints that such incidents were leading to loss of lives.

She advised elected representatives and notables to play their role to avoid such incidents in their areas.
