GUJRAT: A delegation of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) led by party’s central president Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and secretary general Salman Akram Raja visited on Saturday families affected by urban flooding in Gujrat on the direction of party founder Imran Khan.

Speaking on the occasion, the former chief minister claimed his government had sanctioned funds worth billions to revamp Gujrat city drainage. “Had the PML-N government not withheld funds, Gujrat would not have been submerged today.”

He said his son Moonis Elahi had got completed a 50 cusec rainwater pipeline from Jail Chowk to Boley bridge with Rs 400 million whereas the PML-N built concrete roads on the city’s two major drains, Shah Hussain and Chah Tarang, which made drainage impossible.

The PTI president said he had implemented Imran Khan’s vision during his second tenure as CM.

Stand with the flood-hit, Salman delivers Imran’s message to workers

Elahi said his spouse got the most votes in Pakistan, but “they defeated her in final results. I have never lost from Gujrat till date, but they are such magicians that I was also defeated. But don’t worry, these seats and the funds they have eaten will be taken out of their bellies. You people can be sure that whenever there is a problem, every single member of our family will come to your help.”.

The ex-CM said Rescue 1122 was his project which was now helping flood victims in Punjab. “The PML-N should show us even a single project of the quality of our Rescue 1122. We have made Gujrat a division, and we have also made Talagang, Murree, Taunsa, Wazirabad and Kot Addu districts.”

Parvez Elahi said that Wazirabad Cardiology Hospital was his project which was delayed by the N-League for nine years. “When Allah Almighty gave me another chance, I completed the project”.

Salman Akram Raja said “entire Punjab, and indeed the entire Pakistan, was grateful to the services of Parvez Elahi. I salute him. I have come here with a message from Imran Khan from Adiala Jail. Imran Khan has ordered that in this hour of disaster, every PTI official and worker must stand with the people. The people are waiting for Imran Khan today.”

He said Imran Khan has been in jail for two years. This government has stopped the people-friendly projects of PTI and has not allowed them to proceed further. Funds have been squandered.

Ms Samaira Elahi, Rasikh Elahi, Mian Imran Masood, Shaukat Basra and some former PTI lawmakers were also present on the occasion.
