Poor visibility affects flights

MULTAN, May 25: As visibility was reduced to only 200 metres, all morning and afternoon flights arriving here from Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore were cancelled on Thursday.

The Civil Aviation Authority officials told this agency that the flights cancelled included PK-330, coming from Karachi at 8.25am, PK-385 (from Islamabad) at 10:50am and PK-331 (Islamabad) at 1:25pm.

According to aviation experts, the minimum visibility for safe landing and take-off of an aircraft is 1.6 kilometres. At the time of filing of this report at 6.30pm, the visibility was recorded at 800 metres only.—APP
