BAHAWALPUR; Abdul Hakim police in Khanewal district claimed on Thursday to have arrested a seminary teacher for allegedly torturing his student in Mohallah Dharampura.

According to police sources, suspect Abdul Hannan tortured his pupil Hasnain at his seminary. In a video uploaded on social media, victim Hasnain with torture marks on his body can be seen tied with chains.

Police said Hasnain’s parents and locals lodged a protest and a team rescued the boy and arrested the suspect. Police have registered a case against him. Further investigation is underway.

RAPE: Dunyapur City police claimed to have arrested an elderly shopkeeper for allegedly raping a married woman at Chah Azmatwala on Thursday.

According to police PRO, the complainant in the first information report registered under section 376 of Pakistan Penal Code said sometime ago she went to the shop of ‘O’ and purchased grocery on credit. After some days, the suspect came to her house and demanded payment. She said she sought some more time and in response he took her in a room and allegedly raped her.

She alleged that the suspect again raped her on Aug16 after which she reported the incident to police. He was lodged in police lock-up.

ARRESTED: Ahmedpur East and Dera Nawab police in Bahawalpur district claimed to have arrested three murder suspects.

At a press conference here on Thursday, SP investigation Syed Jamshed Ali Shah said proclaimed offender Muhammad Jamil was wanted for the previous four years in a dacoity and murder case while Mulazim Hussain was wanted in his wife’s murder case for the last three years.

CCD: A joint team of CCD and Elite force in Jalalpur Peerwala near Lodhran in Multan district claimed to have arrested five criminals in injured condition by their own five accomplices during police blockade on Wednesday night.

According to CCD circles, as many as 10 outlaws riding a double-cabin vehicle appeared on the scene and after spotting CCD and police officials’ in a vehicle allegedly opened fire. There was exchange of firing between the two. After the firing ceased, five were found injured while as many others managed to flee.

The injured identified as Zahid, Younus, Iqbal, Mumtaz and Usman were shifted to hospital. Jalalpur Peerwala police registered a case against the five fleeing accomplices and recovered arms from their possession. The CCD said their criminal records were being scrutinised to ascertain their involvement in criminal cases.

ACE: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Vehari claimed to have arrested former reader at sessions court Muzamil Hussain for allegedly receiving an amount of Rs700,000 from one Hashmat for providing him a job, which the suspect failed to provide to the complainant.
