RAHIM YAR KHAN: The revenue department has imposed an immediate ban on the registry and transfer of property in 24 illegal housing schemes in Rahim Yar Khan district.

The action was taken after reports that the owners and developers of these schemes have been selling plots and starting construction without the necessary approval from the relevant authorities.

The ban, which affects 15 schemes under the district council and nine under the municipal committee, was requested in letters from both bodies to the deputy commissioner. The letters cited violations of the Punjab Local Government Act, 2022, and the Punjab Private Housing Schemes Rules, 2022.

The housing schemes in jurisdiction of district council include Zeenat City, Sadiqpur tehsil RYK, Paradise Valley, Chak 101-P tehsil RYK, Ahmed Villas, Chak 113-P Manthar Road, tehsil RYK, Royal Farm, Chak 101-P, Abu Dhabi Road, tehsil RYK, Habib Orchard, Chak 85-P, Abu Dahbi Road, tehsil RYK, Rehman Garden, Mouza Burara, tehsil RYK, Abdullah Town, Bindour Minthar Road, tehsil RYK, Fareed Park, Sadiqpur, tehsil RYK, Zeenat Garden, Mouza Burara, Saim Naala, tehsil RYK, New Pearl City, Mouza Amangarh, tehsil RYK, Ahmed Garden, Mouza Sadiqpur, tehsil RYK, Abu Bakar Town, Chak 85-P, Abu Dahbi Road, tehsil RYK, Palace Villas, Chak 85-P, Abu Dahbi Road, tehsil RYK, and Royal Zeenat, Mouza Burara, tehsil RYK.

The schemes under municipal committee are: Osman Garden, Mouza Ali Akbar Sanghi, Garden House, Chak 72-NP, Gulshan Faiz, Mouza Pursaan, Pearl City, Mouza, RYK and Ali Akbar Sanghi, Al Barooj Residency, Mouza RYK, Salimi Garden, Mouza RYK, Green Town, Mouza Noory Wali, Park City, Mouza Tibbi Laran and Taiba City, Chak 72-NP.

According to officials, the owners of these schemes have illegally sold plots, causing financial losses to the government.

The list of these schemes was published in a notification issued by the revenue department in the second week of August.

In addition to legal violations, these developers are accused of deceiving the public by failing to provide essential facilities like sewerage, water supply, drainage, and roads.

Despite numerous notices and operations by the district council to halt these illegal activities, the owners continued their fraudulent sales and construction work.

Sub-Registrar/Tehsil Imran Hafeez told Dawn on Wednesday that both the letters have been forwarded to the in-charge computerised land record centre, RYK, to stop the Jamabandi (Fard) of these illegal societies.
