Germany’s Foreign Ministry has called for an investigation into the recent attack on Nasser Hospital that killed five journalists, Al Jazeera reports.

In a statement on X, the ministry said the work of journalists was “indispensable for depicting the devastating reality” of the conflict in Gaza.

“We have repeatedly called on the Israeli government to grant access to media professionals and to provide protection to journalists operating in Gaza,” the ministry added.

In response, the German Ambassador to Israel, Steffen Seibert, wrote that it was “another day of deep sadness”.

“We are appalled at the killing of journalists, first responders and other civilians in an Israeli attack against Nasser Hospital. Our Foreign Ministry demands an investigation and access for international media to Gaza to show the reality of war,” he wrote.
