Two arrested with 1,600kg poppy

SHEIKHUPURA, May 23: Saddar police have arrested two drug pushers and recovered 1,600 kg (40 maunds) of poppy straw from their possession in Easerke. Police said the Sheikhupura DPO, on information regarding the big confinement of contraband in Easerke, constituted a special team which raided their hideout and arrested two drug traffickers Akhtar Gadi and Abbas and recovered 1,600 kgs of poppy straw packed in 40 bags from their possession.

Police said their three accomplices managed to escape from the scene.
