GUJRANWALA, May 23: The Aroop Town nazim has sought the list of all rundown buildings to demolish the same to avoid more loss of lives in case of a windstorm and directed all advertising companies to get no objection certificates (NOCs) from the town administration before installing billboards along GT Road or in the town limits.

At a meeting held here on Tuesday, nazim Ikram Ali Khan expressed shock over the loss of lives during the Monday night windstorm and directed the officers concerned to conduct a survey of rundown buildings and submit a report to him.

Meanwhile, schoolteacher M Kabir of Rahwali who was killed in the education board building on Sialkot Road during the windstorm on Monday was laid to rest in the local graveyard on Tuesday.

Gujranwala Board of Interme-diate and Secondary Education chairman Masoodul Haq and other senior officers and employees attended his funeral prayers.

Later, the board chairman went to the residence of Kabir and paid a Rs50,000 compensation to his widow, on the order of the chief minister. He promised to give employment to one of his family members in the board. — Correspondent
