SHO, cops suspended

KHAIRPUR, May 23: Three alleged criminals escaped from the lock-up of the Tando Masti police station in the early hours of Tuesday. Accused Manzoor Khwaja, Sikandar Kalhoro and Ghulam Shabbir Chandio, who were arrested by the Tando Masti police on criminal charges, escaped from the custody of the Tando Masti police station after boring holes in the walls of the lock-up.

The District Police Officer (DPO) of Khairpur, Javed Jiskani, suspended the SHO of Tando Masti police station, Mir Imdad Talpur, and ASI Abdul Hakeem Langah and ordered an inquiry into the matter.

The Duty Officer, ASI Ghulam Asghar Abbasi, and constable Riaz Hussain Kandhro were arrested for dereliction of duty.

A case was also registered against the arrested ASI and constable on Tuesday.

Later in the evening, the DPO suspended five more constables of the same police station, including Ghulam Ali Siyal, Waheed Beelhim, Gulzar Kalhoro, Rahim Bux and Jamshed Khaskheli.

The SP of Investigation, Irfan Ali Baloch, is conducting an inquiry into the matter. Ghulam Mustafa Mirani was appointed as new SHO of the Tando Masti Khan police station.
