Development project in Jhal Magsi
Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has announced the successful completion and commissioning of the Jhal Magsi Development Project and launched a series of corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the remote Jhal Magsi district of Balochistan, as per a press release. The fast-track development was made possible through incentives approved by the government of Pakistan.
The project is currently producing around 14 million standard cubic feet per day of pipeline-quality gas and 45 barrels per day of condensate. The gas has been injected into the Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) network through a newly built 98-kilometre pipeline constructed by SSGCL from the Jhal Magsi field to its tie-in point.
As part of its community development efforts, OGDCL has launched several CSR initiatives in the Jhal Magsi district. These include the construction of the OGDCL Grammar School (50 per cent completed) and a Mother & Child Health Care Facility in collaboration with Indus Hospital (60pc completed). The company has also built 84 climate-resilient houses, awarded fully funded four-year scholarships to students at Sukkur IBA, and provided technical training to 55 local youths through NAVTTC, with 30 already trained and 25 in progress.
Recycling beverage cartons
Tetra Pak Pakistan Limited and Bulleh Shah Packaging Pvt Ltd have entered into a strategic collaboration through a memorandum of understanding aimed at creating a commercially viable collection and recycling value chain for used beverage cartons (UBC) in Pakistan, according to a press release.
The MoU focuses on scaling up the collection, transportation, and recycling capacity of UBCs through partnerships with waste management companies and scrap dealers, while also conducting thorough value chain assessments to improve operational efficiency and pricing transparency.
In addition, the two organisations will work together to implement real-time data reporting through Tetra Pak’s digital platforms, ensuring greater transparency across the value chain in an impact unique to this partnership where digital traceability transforms used beverage cartons from anonymous waste into trackable assets fuelling transparency, sustainability, and smarter recycling.
World CIO Summit & Awards
Pakistan hosted the World Chief Information Officer (CIO) Summit & Awards 2025 – Pakistan Edition in Karachi on August 23, a press release stated.
Over 50 CIOs of Pakistan’s top companies were recognised with awards for their contribution to the industry and the country alike. Among these, the eight best CIOs will represent Pakistan at the World CIO Summit Global Edition to be held in Egypt.
Syed Abdul Qadir, the co-organiser of the event, stated that the summit builds on last year’s success, where over 600 professionals came together to share ideas, spark collaborations, and celebrate excellence. This year nearly 800 professionals participated in the event carrying the theme “Dawn of a New Decade”.
inDrive announces tech awards
inDrive has opened applications for the Aurora Tech Award 2026, a flagship initiative by the organisation to honour women tech founders from around the world — including Pakistan — who are creating meaningful social impact through innovation, as per a press release.
This award is designed to highlight women entrepreneurs on a global stage, providing them with international recognition, opportunities to connect with major investors, tailored mentorship, and resources to scale their businesses.
The winner of the award will receive $50,000, the runner-up will receive $20,000, and the third-place finalist will be awarded $15,000.
Ufone’s aid in KP
As per a press release, Ufone 4G is supporting communities affected by the sudden cloudbursts and flash floods that devastated multiple cities and towns across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Recognising the urgency of search and rescue operations, Ufone 4G has provided free minutes to its users in the worst-hit districts of Bajaur, Buner, Battagram, and Batal to help them connect with emergency services, mobilise local resources, and remain in touch with their loved ones.
