PESHAWAR, May 21: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) leader Qazi Hussain Ahmad on Sunday described agitation against the government as the greatest jihad and said rulers were working against the Islamic system with the support of western countries.

Addressing a conference at Tarangzai, he said all arrangements had been made for the sit-in to be held in Islamabad in September to overthrow the government.

Provincial Food Minister Fazl-i-Rabbani, Kashif Azam and several ulema attended the conference.

Qazi Hussain Ahmad, who also heads Jamaat-i-Islami, pledged that anti-Islam conspiracies hatched by the United States would be foiled.

He emphasised implementation of the Islamic system and said his party was ready to render any sacrifice for the sake of religion.

He said efforts to exclude Islamic lessons from curriculum would be resisted.

Referring to people’s miseries owing to price-hike and growing poverty, he said a band of people that had occupied the national exchequer was responsible for that.

Earlier, speaking at a public gathering in Charsadda, the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal leader said the United States was the biggest terrorist that was dreaming to establish a global hegemony.

“We will continue to fight our war against United States and President Musharraf,” he said.

He asked people to elect good leadership in the forthcoming elections.—Online
