ISLAMABAD, May 20: Punjab beat Peshawar by 63 runs in the final to win the Inter-university cricket championship at Shalimar Cricket Ground.

Asked to bat first, Punjab University were bowled out for 193 in 34 overs but hit back to dismiss Peshawar University for 130 in 31.1 overs.

For Punjab University, Brothers Atif Ejaz and Asim Ejaz were the main scorers with 41 and 34. Asim Aqeel chipped in with a useful 23. Haseebullah captured two wickets for 25 runs in six overs while Asif Khan and Zohaib got two wickets each for 39 and 32 runs for Peshawar.

Top-scorer for Peshawar University was Tariq Khan with 29 while Mushtaq was the second best with 20. Ali (3-19), Imtiaz (3-35) and Zafar (2-25), shared the bowling honours for Punjab University.—APP
