The Israeli army says its troops killed about 10 Palestinian fighters in “face-to-face combat” in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, according to Al Jazeera.

According to a statement by the military, more than 15 fighters attacked with machine gun fire and anti-tank weapons, and some infiltrated a defensive position of the Nahshon Battalion of the Kfir Brigade.

The Israeli military said its forces repelled the attack in close-quarters combat, with the support of air strikes. The statement added that one soldier was seriously injured and two others mildly injured during the fighting, and that the battle is still ongoing.
