ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has suggested that consumers use the Power Smart App to ensure 100 per cent accurate and timely meter readings.

“Apna Meter – Apni Reading [Power Smart] app has to be downloaded to get the benefit from its features. Field formations have been directed to launch awareness campaigns about this consumer-friendly initiative,” Chief Executive Officer Iesco Engineer Khalid Mehmood said on Sunday.

“Timely and accurate meter reading and the elimination of overbilling have always remained a top priority of the Government of Pakistan and the Ministry of Energy, Power Division. Although efforts have been made in different periods, a complete solution to this issue for consumers has now been ensured through the launch of a smart power application — Apna Meter — Apni Reading. This application was formally inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, along with the Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari,” he said.

Mr Mehmood has urged consumers to immediately download the newly introduced Power Smart app from Google Play Store or Apple Store, register themselves using CNIC or mobile number, and on the specified date and time of meter reading, take a clear picture of their electricity meter reading and upload it on the app. The submitted picture will automatically be received at the concerned Iesco office, ensuring consumers receive timely and accurate bills.

He further said that Power Smart was a revolutionary initiative in Pakistan’s power sector.

“It directly involves consumers in the billing process, making them an essential part of transparent, fair, and timely electricity billing, a key responsibility of the Government of Pakistan, the Ministry of Energy, and Iesco,” he added.

The Iesco chief executive also issued directions to Iesco officers and staff members to create awareness among consumers at every available forum about the consumer-friendly initiative, so that consumers can fully benefit from the app, and 100pc accurate and timely meter reading can be ensured.
