In addition to the dangers they and their loved ones face, and the psychological impact of witnessing daily killings, Palestinian journalists face another major challenge in the form of hunger.
“Hunger has affected everyone; we all suffer from it,” photographer and correspondent Amer al Sultan told Al Jazeera.
“I used to go to work, and when I didn’t find anything to eat, I would just drink water. I had to live for two or three days on water,” he added. “This is one of the most difficult challenges we face amid this war against our people — starvation.”
The Committee to Protect Journalists says that Palestinian journalists working in Gaza are the most at-risk media professionals in the world.
