TOBA TEK SINGH: Horticultural experts said on Tuesday that entrepreneurs should reap the benefits of horticulture landscape businesses in view of the growth of housing colonies and urbanisation.
They were addressing a two-day workshop titled “3D Landscape Design for Entrepreneurs: Turning Passion into Business” arranged by the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Institute of Horticulture Sciences.
The workshop covered integration of plants in landscape design and landscape business strategies, use of 3D modeling software, tools and techniques for 3D models.
Agriculture Dean Dr Ghulam Murtaza urged the participants to develop expertise in landscape design and maintenance and explore opportunities in floriculture and ornamental plants. He said that besides developing a green strategy, one should also analyse soil health which had been deteriorating.
He said that landscape experts beautify the environment and provide recreational opportunity to the people to enjoy nature.
Horticulture Director Dr Ahmad Sattar said the demand for professional landscape design and maintenance was increasing, particularly in urban areas and housing societies.
He said, “Our diverse climate allows cultivation of a wide variety of fruits, vegetables and ornamental plants”.
Dr Adnan Younis stressed upon the need to utilise landscaping software and said that due to increasing urbanisation, the demand for landscaping professionals was increasing. He added the expanded green net was essential to cope with climate change impact.
The workshop included Lahore Floriculture Director Munawar Hussain Almas, Farwa Batool, Dr Muzamil Ijaz, and Dr Umair Shafiq.
They engaged the participants in hands-on activities and discussions on 3D landscape design, exploring innovative techniques and trends in landscape architecture.
