APMA for joint voters’ list

Published May 19, 2006

ISLAMABAD, May 18: The All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) has demanded preparation of new voter lists on the basis of joint electorate system and inclusion of minorities representatives in the process.

In a statement on Thursday, APMA President Shahbaz Bhatti said that the replacement of the separate electorate system with the joint electorate system had necessitated preparation of joint voter lists.

He said it had always been the demand of minorities that they should not be discriminated against on the basis of religion or belief and treated as equal citizens of Pakistan.—Staff Reporter
