RAWALPINDI: British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott was made “honorary pilot” by the CEO of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), who also presented her a captain’s cap on Wednesday.

She also shared a video of her recent flight, captioning it “Come fly with me!” Enjoyed my PIA flight from Karachi to Islamabad. The High commissioner was seen visiting the cockpit, where she received a briefing from the PIA captain.

A PIA spokesman said the gesture followed the British envoy’s domestic flight from Karachi to Islamabad with PIA which she described as a memorable experience, expressing her best wishes for the airline.

British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott on Thursday released a video of travel from Karachi to Islamabad via PIA.

Jane Marriott – who is known for her personal passion for aviation made her way to the cockpit. She also expressed her pleasure over the lifting of the ban on Pakistani airlines, which now allows them to resume flight operations to the UK after more than five years.

“I will soon be flying directly to Manchester on a PIA flight,” the spokesman said while quoting her.

The spokesman said that the PIA chief executive officer (CEO) presented the captain’s cap to the British ambassador, making him an honorary pilot. The British Ambassador expresses best wishes and desires for PIA.

He further said that CEO PIA paid tribute to the British ambassador for her tireless role in resuming flights to the UK.

“Our High Commissioner Jane Marriott enjoyed her PIA flight from Karachi to Islamabad. The UK haslifted its air safety ban, a milestone reflecting the hard work of aviation experts in Pakistan and the UK to meet international safety standards,” the post read.
