GILGIT: The search operation for a missing tourist from Karachi continued in the Soq River in Skardu on Wednesday. Police have arrested three boat operators for alleged negligence.

According to the Baltistan Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Ghulam Muhammad, tourist Ahmer Yasir Lodhi from Karachi, his wife Aqsa Ahmer, and their 12-year-old son were on a trip to Skardu.

He said that the family was rafting on the river when the raft capsized at 4pm on Tuesday in Kachura Soq Valley, Skardu. Three operators and the 12-year-old boy survived, while Mr Lodhi and his wife went missing.

Rescue 1122 and the police recovered the woman’s body and shifted it to CMH Skardu on Tuesday. A search operation to locate the body of Ahmer Yasir Lodhi continued on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Police said three boat operators, one local and two from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have been arrested for negligence, and an FIR has been registered.

Police have also obtained a physical remand for three days for investigation.
