ISLAMABAD: A new polio case has been reported from Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, taking the tally so far this year to 19.

According to the Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication, the victim is a five-month-old child. This is the 12th polio case from KP this year.

“The continued detection of polio cases highlights the ongoing threat to children, especially in areas with low vaccine acceptance. It is crucial for communities to understand that repeated vaccination is essential to protect every child against poliovirus,” an official from the laboratory said.
